Pricing and Booking Questions

Six things people ask before they book, answered plainly.

Call (07) 3522 3397

How is the price worked out for a drain job?

Four things set it: how easy the run is to reach, the pipe's depth and material, what caused the blockage, and whether a camera inspection is needed to find it. You agree the figure before work starts.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. You get a fixed upfront price for the whole job before any work starts, so an hour of jetting and a longer dig are agreed the same way, with no hourly rate guesswork.

How do I book a visit?

Ring (07) 3522 3397 and describe which fixtures are slow, gurgling or overflowing. Local Kippa-Ring Blocked Drains books a time that suits you, the plumber finds the cause on site, and the price is agreed before anything starts.

Can I pay by card?

Yes. You pay by card or EFTPOS on the day, once the work is finished and the line has been tested and running freely, so there's nothing to arrange before we arrive.

What should I have ready when I call?

Which drains are affected, how long it's been happening and whether more than one fixture is slow. If water has come up through a shower or gully, say so, because that changes how urgently we treat it.

How soon can a plumber get here?

Ring early and we can usually get someone out that same day. The day's schedule decides it, and we'll tell you honestly where you sit when you book.

Who fixes what between my place and the street main?

Unitywater owns and repairs the main under the street. Everything from your fixtures out to the connection point at the boundary is yours, so that's the run we clear, inspect and repair when it plays up.

Why do drains on the older streets block again after rodding?

Because many of the older house lines are earthenware with cement joints. Rodding punches a hole through the roots or silt, but the cracked joint that let them in is still there, so the blockage rebuilds.

Does grease from the shopping centres reach house drains?

It can. Food outlets, aged care kitchens and the hospital all send fat into shared mains near the two shopping centres, and when one of those lines slows, the connected houses feel it first.

What should never go down a toilet?

Flush nothing except toilet paper. Wipes, paper towels, sanitary items and cotton buds don't break down, and cooking fat sets solid inside the pipe, which is why they cause most repeat toilet blocks.

Will heavy summer rain overload my yard drains?

Often. Around 1,131 millimetres of rain falls here in an average year, and overland flow paths cross Chorley, Wanganui, Ballina and Kappella streets, so yard pits and gullies cop the lot. Clearing them before summer keeps water moving off the block.

Water pooled in the yard after rain: blockage or runoff?

Check the timing. Water that rises during a downpour and drains away once the rain eases is usually runoff on low ground, not a blockage. Water that keeps rising, or smells, means the drain needs a look.
